Matthew 22:34-40
Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
As Jesus answered, the greatest commandment is actually two inseparable commandments:
Where there is love; there is God. Where there is God; there is love.
When I ask three-year old Noah, "where is God?", he points to his chest and says, "He is in my heart."
I then ask him, "where is love?" Unaided and without hesitation, he again points to his chest and says, "In my heart."
It is that simple and clear to him. How wonderful it would be to possess the uninhibited understanding of a child again.
To desire with all your heart and with all of your soul and with all of your mind to love God and live in His presence. And to shine with God's love through your words and actions for all to witness you are indeed a beloved Child of God.
